All hail to the new queens from Bataan and Palawan as they emerged as the big winners of the Binibining Pilipinas 2023 coronation night on Sunday at the Big Dome.
Of the 40 women who competed for two coveted titles, Anna Valencia Lakrini of Bataan was crowned as this year’s Binibining Pilipinas Globe and Palaweña beauty Angelica Lopez was hailed as the new Binibining Pilipinas International.
Binibining Pilipinas Globe 2022 Chelsea Fernandez and Binibining Pilipinas International 2022 Nicole Borromeo handed over their thrones to their successors.
While Borromeo will represent the Philippines at the Miss International 2023 competition in Japan this October, Lopez is set to compete in the next year's edition of the global pageant.
On the other hand, Katrina Anne Johnson of Davao del Sur, who was one of the nine finalists in the 2020 search for Aliwan Fiesta Digital Queen, was named first runner-up followed by Atasha Reign Parani of Cavite as second runner-up.
Aside from the crown, Lakrini was also named as Best in Swimsuit and Jag Denim Queen. Other awards were given to the following:
- Trisha Martinez of Laguna - Best in Evening Gown, Binibining Ever Bilena, and Binibining Philippine Airlines
- Jeanne Bilasano of Albay - Best in National Costume
- Julia Mendoza of Roxas City -The Face of Binibini
- Mary Chiles Balana of Hermosa, Bataan - Binibining Friendship
- Candy Vollinger of Catandues -Binibining Talent
- Loraine Jara of Bulacan - Binibining Bingo Plus
- Sharmaine Magdasoc from Ortigas, Pasig - Manila Bulletin Readers' Choice
- April Barro of Cagayan de Oro - Binibining Pizza Hut
Award-winning actors Dolly de Leon and Piolo Pascual, Olympian weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz, Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna, Tatler Philippines editor-in-chief Anton San Diego, social media personality Small Laude, SB19 member Josh Cullen, Wolfgang’s Steakhouse president Peter Zwiener, presidential son Vincent Marcos, and Miss International 2022 Jasmin Salberg comprised the panel of judges.
The event was hosted by Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray, Miss Universe Philippines 2014 MJ Lastimosa, and Miss Grand International 2016 first runner-up Nicole Cordoves.
