After being sworn in, new Philippine Postal Corporation Postmaster General Luis Carlos vowed to modernize operations and urged fellow postal workers to provide the best possible service to the public.

In a press release on Tuesday, Carlos said that he would identify the Post Office's strengths and weaknesses so that he could quickly work on them in order for it to survive. and stated that he would push for post office reforms in the coming months.

Among the first steps that must be taken, according to Carlos, are the development of Post Office e-commerce platforms, digital mailboxes, and other electronic means of sending documents.

He also mentioned the need to empower its clients to access Post Office services from the comfort of their homes and strengthen their relationship with other private e-commerce companies in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

Carlos stated that the Post Office's relationships with private companies and other countries should be strengthened in order to improve cross-border e-commerce, international mail forwarding, and international money transfers.

He also mentioned that the Post Office, as an institution, can be a primary logistics provider for farmers and the agricultural sector by entering into a memorandum of agreement with the Department of Agriculture (DA) and helping in the delivery of agricultural products such as seedlings, fertilizers, and crops to far-flung areas in the provinces without access to major cities.

In line with the Marcos administration's push for a lean, efficient, and responsive government workforce, Carlos stated that the Post Office would work with the government to improve bureaucratic efficiency by focusing on digitalized government processes and operations.

Last March 28, Marcos appointed Carlos as Acting Postmaster General and member of the PHLPost Board of Directors, and on Monday (April 3), he was sworn in before Supreme Court Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo as the new Postmaster General and Chief Executive Officer.
