Following the departure of Tropical Storm "Dodong," the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced the formation of a low pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

According to PAGASA's 5 a.m. bulletin, the LPA was last observed 1,070 kilometers east of northeast Mindanao. There is a possibility that it could intensify into a tropical cyclone within the next 24 to 48 hours.

"Patuloy nating binabantayan itong bagong Low Pressure Area na nasa labas ng Philippine Area of Responsibility. Ito pong Low Pressure Area na ito ay posibleng maging bagyong sa mga susunod na isa o hanggang dalawang araw," said PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina.

Once the LPA transforms into a typhoon, it will be named "Egay", as per the naming protocol.

Badrina further mentioned that on Monday, the LPA is expected to enter PAR.

However, it currently does not have any direct impact on any part of the country, particularly the Visayas and Mindanao regions.

"Posible po ngayong araw ng Lunes ay pumasok na ito ng ating Philippine Area of Responsibility. Wala pa naman itong direktang epekte sa anumang bahagi ng ating bansa partikular na sa Visayas at Mindanao," Badrina continued.

Meanwhile, he said the southwest monsoon or habagat will continue to bring cloudy skies and rain showers across the country.

Gale warnings remain in effect for Batanes, Babuyan Islands, Romblon, Marinduque, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, the western coast of Batangas, Occidental Mindoro (including Lubang Island), Palawan (including Calamian, Cagayancillo, Cuyo, and Kalayaan Islands), and the southern coast of Quezon.

According to PAGASA, the Tropical Storm Dodong, internationally known as Talim, is currently heading towards Hainan Island or the southern part of China. Its latest position is 825 kilometers west of extreme Northern Luzon.
