The curriculum for Kinder to Grade 10 (K to 10) will be launched next week, according to the Department of Education (DepEd).
The department said the implementation of the new ‘decongested’ K to 10 will be effective in the school year 2024-2025.
“Sa K to 10 review, since tapos na tayo do’n, ang feedback ng experts natin ay highly congested kasi ‘yung current K to 10 natin. Ibig sabihin, napakaraming kailangan matutunan ng learners na learning competencies within a school year. Napakarami ring kailangan ituro ng mga guro within a school year, which makes mastery of these subjects very difficult,” the DepEd spokesperson Undersecretary Michael Poa said in a Palace briefing.
Poa noted that the new curriculum will place a greater emphasis on courses like Math, Science, English, Reading, and Value Development in an effort to raise the standard of basic education in the country.
