

The New Bilibid Prison (NBP) In Muntinlupa City transferred 500 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) to Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm in Occidental Mindoro on Friday.
Bureau of Corrections Director General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr. said that the transfer is part of the Bureau’s continued effort on the decongestion of NBP, along with the increase on manpower of the Operating Prison and Penal Farm (OPPF) through the government’s Agricultural Project.
Of the 500 PDLs transferred, 200 came from maximum camp, 200 from medium camp, and 100 from Reception and Diagnostic Center. There were 100 Corrections Officers composed of SWAT teams, medical personnel, and escort teams that escorted the PDLs. This was led by CCInsp. Ronolfo Salonga, supported by the Philippine National Police (PNP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and South Luzon Expressway/Star Toll Mobile Patrol Group.
At the moment, there are 5,170 PDLs who had been transferred from the NBP to several OPPF in the country since January.
