This might be concerning news for those sharing Netflix accounts with friends as the popular streaming service will crack down on password sharing at a later date in March.
In the company's fourth-quarter and full-year 2022 earnings call on Jan 21, the executives confirmed to start to charge freeloading viewers or those who use accounts of separate households.
The newly-appointed co-CEO Greg Peters said that they are confident with the new features to be implemented but are aware that these changes "won't be a universally popular move."
However, the company believed that this was the same as when they raised prices and many users canceled their subscriptions but still came back to watch interesting shows.
Netflix has already rolled out tests in some countries including Chile, Costa Rica, and Peru last year charging $3 or P163 to 'borrowers' of accounts.
Meanwhile, there are still no specific details about how the company will enforce paid password sharing.
