Netflix jacks up prices globally as growth dwindles
by Jim Fernandez21 October 2024

Netflix has begun bumping up their prices in several countries as its notable growth from a clampdown on password sharing declines.

Japan, certain European countries, the Middle East, and Africa have been subject to price adjustments already, along with the recent addition of Spain and Italy.

In the period between July and September, the streaming subscription service has gained 5.1 million users, which exceeds forecasts, although its most meager in more than a year.

The company’s immense reach proves a difficulty in acquiring more subscriptions, but it is under pressure to assure investors of growth through the upcoming years.

Subscription rates had also slacked in 2022, prompting a crackdown on password sharing, and a move towards incorporating advertisements.

Since the previous year, 45 million new users have been added to their subscription numbers, with some 282 million subscriptions globally.
