Filipina boxer Nesthy Petecio remains in contention for a medal as she advances to the round of 16 in the women's 57kg division after dominating Indian foe via unanimous decision at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Wednesday.

The Tokyo Olympics silver medalist bested India's bet Jaismine Lamboria removing her chance for a quarterfinals match in the competition.

The more experienced Petecio didn't falter amidst height and reach disadvantage. She was able to throw burning punches over the young opponent garnering a score of 30-30-30-29-29.

Petecio follows fellow Filipina boxer Aira Villegas in the quarterfinals after the latter opened the Philippine boxing team’s 2024 Olympics campaign with a unanimous win over Morrocan fighter in the women’s 50 kilogram division.
