“Saan aabot ang P1,000 mo?”
Actress and bussinesswoman Neri Naig-Miranda received criticisms from netizens after posting what they called a “problematic” weekly meal plan and palengke list.
Neri dropped a chart of her sample weekly meal plan on her Facebook page last Monday, September 12.
“Eto na ang Neri’s (sample) Weekly Meal Plan. Para sa mga nanay na mamamalengke bukas pagkatapos ihatid ang mga bata sa school, eto na, pakiprint na po eto, kumpleto pati palengke list,” she captioned.

In the meal plan, Neri outlined the meals that a family can eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner from Monday to Sunday.
According to the 38-year-old actress, a family can eat scrambled eggs with tomatoes and onions and rice for breakfast; ginisang monggo for lunch; and whatever food is left in the two dishes will be for dinner on Monday.
The next day, a family can eat lugaw with boiled egg for breakfast; pork sinigang for lunch; and leftovers again for dinner.
The remaining days of the weeks are similar, with one meal each for breakfast and dinner and leftovers for dinner.
Neri also shared that she has tried to budget a P1,000 allowance for a week.
“Kung may sukli pa yan, pwede pangdagdag merienda o baon ng mga bata. Good night!” she added.
Several netizens were irked by the said meal plan, palengke list, and the P1,000 budget.
On X (formerly Twitter), Ash Presto said the “framing” of the post was “problematic”.
“Parang kasalanan mo pa na hindi ka “madiskarte”. Talagang ordinaryong Pilipino pa ang bibigyan ng advice ng mayamang businessperson tungkol sa budget? Ang condescending pa ng tono,” she said.
Presto left a brief message to Neri, saying that her plan was “not wise” but “out of touch.”
Ang problematic naman ng framing ng post na ito.

Kay Neri: hindi ito “wais”. Out of touch ito. https://t.co/vjpKrtqvde
Meanwhile, KPIE Channel questioned how a family could spend a P1,000 budget for just one week.
“Saang Pilipinas ka nakatira Neri?” it added.

Neri has already taken down the Facebook post, and after receiving the backlash, she announced that she is giving away vegetable seeds to the first 50 lucky fans.
“Dali, mamimigay ako ng mga seeds! Para mabawasan ang stress ng mga nagba-budget sa bahay,” she said in a Facebook post on Thursday.
Meanwhile, in a Twitter post on Friday, the actress’ husband, Parokya ni Edgar frontman Chito Miranda, defended his wife.
He said that Neri crafted the weekly plan for a family of two to four members, with a P2,000 budget.
“It was mostly for fun, but she also thought that it can useful for those who might want to use it as a guide,” Chito added.

A few weeks ago, Neri came up with a weekly meal plan, for a family of 2-4, working with a budget of only P2k. It was mostly for fun, but she also thought that it can be useful for those who might want to use it as a guide.😊👍🏻 pic.twitter.com/kw8KNulpYc
