The Province of Bulacan reaffirmed its reputation as one of the Philippines’ top faith tourism destinations during Holy Week 2026, attracting nearly two million visitors eager to immerse themselves in spiritual reflection and traditional Lenten observances.

According to the provincial tourism data, a total of 1,958,287 pilgrims and travelers visited Bulacan over the Holy Week period. Of these, 192,693 were overnight visitors, while 1,765,594 were same-day travelers, highlighting the province’s appeal to both short-term visitors and longer-stay pilgrims.

Malolos City, often referred to as the “Cradle of Democracy,” saw heavy foot traffic at historic and sacred sites such as Barasoain Church and Malolos Cathedral, drawing both history enthusiasts and devout pilgrims.

The Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto Shrine in San Jose del Monte and the Divine Mercy National Shrine in Marilao were also among the most frequented pilgrimage destinations, offering visitors a serene setting for prayer and reflection.

Faith-based festivities extended beyond churches and shrines. The towns of Baliwag, Bustos, Plaridel, and San Miguel hosted traditional Lenten processions, while Kapitangan (Paombong), Dakip (Bulakan), and Santisima Trinidad continued their centuries-old rites, preserving the rich cultural heritage of Bulacan’s Holy Week celebrations.

Pilgrims seeking unique spiritual experiences also visited sites such as the Wailing Wall in Bustos, the Banal na Bundok and Tatlong Persona in San Miguel, as well as the Padre Pio Shrines in San Jose del Monte and Baliwag, blending devotion with the province’s historical and natural attractions.

Tourism officials emphasized that Bulacan’s successful Holy Week turnout reflects not only its spiritual significance but also the province’s growing infrastructure and hospitality offerings that accommodate thousands of visitors every year.

With its rich tapestry of sacred sites, time-honored traditions, and vibrant community celebrations, Bulacan continues to be a must-visit destination for both Filipino and international pilgrims, inviting travelers to experience faith, history, and culture in one journey.
