Two individuals reportedly perished in Central Luzon and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) amidst heavy rains and floods caused by the southwest monsoon or habagat, enhanced by Typhoon Hanna and Goring, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported on Sunday.
In its 8 AM situational report, NDRRMC noted that the reported casualties are still subject to validation.
One individual remains missing in Western Visayas. But no injuries were reported, so far.
Meanwhile, the agency reported that 61 areas in the Ilocos region, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Mimaropa, Western Visayas, and CAR are still submerged in flood.
On the other hand, floods in 382 areas in the seven regions have subsided, and floods in eight are receding.
The NDRRMC said, the following incidents also occurred in several areas in the aforementioned regions:
- Landslide - 26 areas
- Vehicular accident - One area
- Soil erosion - 2 areas
- Fallen tree - 7 areas
- Collapsed structure - 1 area
- Tornado/Destructive winds 3 areas
AFFECTED FAMILIES
The number of affected families has reached a total of 114,724 or equivalent to 418,192 individuals.
Of the total, there are 5,125 families or 21,712 individuals who have been displaced and are now taking shelter inside 272 evacuation centers in the seven affected regions.
On the other hand, 7,481 families, or 30,360 individuals are staying with their families or friends, outside the evacuation centers.
DAMAGES
The NDRRMC said 501 houses were reported damaged in Ilocos, Cagayan, Calabarzon, Western Visayas, and CAR — 405 sustained partial damages while 96 were totally destroyed.
Fifteen infrastructure in Cagayan, Calabarzon, Western Visayas, and CAR also incurred damages which amounted to an estimated P130.25 million in damage costs.
The continuous heavy rains also resulted to 21,983.964 agriculture production loss, with an estimated value of P421.19 million.
This devastating loss affected a total of 10,196 farmers.
