More than 180,000 individuals in eight regions have been affected by the effects of Southwest monsoon or habagat and Typhoon Egay, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported on Wednesday, July 26.
In its latest situational report, NDRRMC said Southwest monsoon and Egay impacted a total of 180,439 individuals or 44,356 families in Ilocos, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, Northern Mindanao, and Soccsksargen.
Of the total, 2,324 families or 8,917 individuals are taking shelter in 107 evacuation centers while 472 families or 2,124 individuals were staying with their family relatives, outside the centers.
One individual reportedly perished while two others sustained injuries. But the agency noted that this data is still being validated.
Fifty-seven houses in Ilocos, Calabarzon, Western Visayas, Northern Mindanao, and Soccsksargen sustained damages — 49 were partially damaged and 8 were entirely damaged.
The government has so far provided ₱1.45 million worth of assistance in the form of family food packs, hygiene kits, and meals in four regions.
The NDRRMC also reported that heavy rains have affected 46 roads and three bridges in the regions of Ilocos, Central Luzon, Mimaropa, and Bicol.
Forty-five Municipalities had experienced power interruption — 45 still interrupted and 6 were restored.
There are 8,949 passengers, 1,745 rolling cargoes, 79 vessels, and 25 motorbancas who were stranded in ports nationwide.
