More than 1,000 individuals have been affected by the southwest monsoon enhanced by Tropical Depression (TD) Dodong in five regions, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported on Sunday, July 16.
Based on NDRRMC's latest data, the habagat affected a total of 1,638 individuals or 491 families in the Ilocos region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and National Capital Region (NCR).
Of this total, 400 families or 1,419 individuals are taking shelter inside 36 evacuation centers.
The remaining 54 families or 89 individuals are staying with their family members and friends outside the evacuation centers.
According to the agency, 168 families or 543 individuals were pre-emptively evacuated in Central Luzon and Western Visayas.
At least 7 municipalities — three in Central Luzon and 1 in Mimaropa — experienced power supply interruption.
On the other hand, 1 municipality in Central Luzon experienced water supply disruption due to the monsoon.
According to the state weather bureau PAGASA, the southwest monsoon will continue to affect the country.
Occasional rains will still be experienced in Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro.
Meanwhile, cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will be felt in Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, the rest of MIMAROPA, the rest of Central Luzon, and Western Visayas.
