The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) remains on its highest alert level despite Typhoon Pepito's slight weakening.

Prior to Typhoon Pepito's impact, the council maintained its red alert status, which had been in place since the devastation caused by Tropical Cyclones Nika and Ofel.

In a report by RH Edniel Parrosa, it was mentioned that following the most recent typhoon in the country, the NDRRMC recorded a rise in the number of affected families, reaching 473,000 across three tropical cyclones.

From this count, 102,000 families have sought refuge in evacuation centers in the regions of Ilocos, Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, MIMAROPA, Bicol, and the Cordillera Administrative Region.

Furthermore, 63 road sections and 97 bridges remain impassable as of now. Power supply interruptions were still reported in Regions 1, 2, 3, and 5 until last night.

The NDRRMC continues its round-the-clock monitoring, with reports still being received intensively.

Meanwhile, Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Administrator Usec. Ariel Nepomuceno emphasized the importance of early evacuation to protect communities.
