

The National Capital Region (NCR) will remain under Alert Level 3 until the end of January amid the rising number of COVID-19 infections in the country, Malacañang said Friday.
In a Palace briefing, acting presidential spokesman Karlo Nograles said the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases agreed to retain Alert Level 3 in Metro Manila and other areas from Jan. 16 to 31.
Aside from the NCR, areas that will be under Alert Level 3 starting January 16 are:

- Santiago City in Region 2

- Angeles City
- Aurora
- Bataan
- Bulacan,

Under Alert Level 3, intrazonal and interzonal travel are subject to “reasonable restrictions” that may be imposed by local government units.
Several establishments will be allowed to operate at 30% indoor venue capacity but exclusively for fully vaccinated people and 50% outdoor venue capacity as long as employees are fully vaccinated.
On Thursday, the Philippines logged another record-high 34,021 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the country's total caseload to 3,092,409.
