The COVID-19 positivity rate in Metro Manila is continuously rising as it surged to 26% as of May 17.
This was according to the data shared by Octa Research fellow Guido David where there has also been a slight uptick in hospital and ICU occupancy since May 10.
David highlighted that the current seven-day positivity rate closely mirrors the rate recorded on May 16, standing at 25.9%.
He further explained, "Meanwhile, hospital occupancy in the NCR increased slightly from 28% on May 10 to 30 percent on May 17, while ICU occupancy rose from 23% to 25% over the same time period."

According to the latest report from the Department of Health on May 18, the nationwide COVID-19 positivity rate stood at 24.1%, with 2,014 new coronavirus cases reported, of which 746 were from Metro Manila alone.
The previous day's nationwide positivity rate was reported at 23.%
Based on the DOH's online COVID-19 tracker, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country has reached 4,121,513 as of May 18.
This figure includes 16,504 active cases, 4,038,573 recoveries, and 66,453 deaths.
