National Capital Region (NCR) continued to reign in the country’s 64th Palarong Pambansa, bringing home their 17th overall championship crown with 98 gold, 66 silver, and 74 bronze medals on July 16.
NCR once again claimed the throne as the home of talented and young student athletes after tallying a total of 238 medals in the region.
The region's largest pull came from its gymnasts, swimmers, and other athletes including those who managed to be record breakers.
CALABARZON regained the second spot after losing the spot to Western Visayas last year. Region IV-A garnered 57 gold, 51 silver, and 53 bronze medals for this year's competition.
Western Visayas claimed the third place with 56 gold, 41 silver, and 41 bronze medals. While Davao Region and Central Visayas, the host of the sporting event, snatched the 4th and 5th spot respectively.
The 65th Palarong Pambansa will be hosted by the Ilocos Norte Region next year. Governor Matthew Manotoc and Laoag City Mayor Michael Keon accepted the hosting responsibilities at the closing ceremony of this year's Palarong Pambansa.
