Senator Francis 'Tol' Tolentino has directed the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) to identify the doctor who refused to provide medical assistance to Adamson student and hazing victim John Matthew Salilig.

During Monday's hearing, Tolentino disclosed that the sworn affidavits of the suspects had indicated that there was a doctor in the location where the fraternity hazing took place.

He said the doctor was one of the suspect's cousins.

"May doktor na pala doon, ayaw magbigay ng assistance at saka ano 'yung ginagawa niya doon? Nandoon siya, inimbitahan para tumulong at noong nakita niya 'yung kondisyon ng bata ay umayaw siya," Tolentino said.

NBI Agent Joseph Martinez told the lawmaker that they are already tracking the doctor.

"Apparently, si Ralph Benjamin Tan, he cannot indentify kung sino talaga 'yung doctor. We are trying to identify kung saan namin mahahanap 'yung doctor," he said.

In an interview with the media after the hearing, Tolentino said the doctor's rejection to aid Salilig was a violation of his sworn oath as a medical practitioner.

"Kapag na-identify iyon, dapat kausahan din iyon. Mabibigat ang kaso nun kasi kung tumulong iyon, baka buhay pa si Matthew," he said.

Last week, the Department of Justice (DOJ) indicted seven members of Tau Gamma Phi Fraternity who are responsible for the brutal murder of Salilig.
