The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has launched an investigation into a fake medical report allegedly linked to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. that has been circulating on social media.
According to a report by RH Jecelle Ricafort, NBI spokesperson Palmer Mallari confirmed that agents are already coordinating with St. Luke’s Medical Center, the hospital whose name was used in the falsified document.
“Bago pa magkaroon ng declaration si Usec. Castro kaninang madaling araw nagtawag na ang ating director ng agents to step on this investigation,” Mallari said.
“In fact, we already dispatch agents in order to coordinate with the St. Luke’s hospital para makuha ‘yung official statement of the matter, and part of the investigation will also have to be done for the purpose of knowing kung paano nag-circulate. At kung totoong ang circulation ng medical certificate na ito was done also of the purpose of tampering it,” he explained.
Mallari added that NBI Acting Director Lito Magno ordered the probe even before Malacañang formally announced that it would seek the agency’s assistance.
Among the key points being examined, according to Mallari, is how the alleged medical test results spread online.
Earlier, Palace Press Officer Usec. Claire Castro told DZRH News that Malacañang would coordinate with the NBI to investigate the circulation of the alleged medical test results of Marcos, describing the document as fake and possibly part of a destabilization effort.
Meanwhile, St. Luke’s Medical Center has also issued a statement denying the authenticity of the circulating report, calling it “fake and falsified.” The hospital emphasized that it strictly adheres to patient confidentiality and data privacy policies.
In a video statement, Marcos revealed that he was recently diagnosed with diverticulitis, a condition involving inflammation or infection of small pouches that can form in the lining of the digestive system. According to Malacañang, the diagnosis placed him under medical observation on January 21 as a precautionary measure after he experienced discomfort.
