The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has issued an apology after a video surfaced showing a provocative dance number during one of its conferences.
The viral video captured a woman wearing a Bralette and shorts performing a dance routine in front of NBI officials and agents at the Diamond Hotel Manila on June 29.
During a press conference at the NBI headquarters in Quezon City, NBI Director Menardo de Lemos expressed his apologies.
He assured that an investigation would be conducted to identify those responsible for inviting the dancers, arranging their presence at the event, and permitting their performance during the conference's fellowship night.
“Kami po ay humaharap sa media ngayon para ipaliwanag itong nangyaring sexy dancing. Una sa lahat, humihingi kami ng paumanhin, dahil sa hindi namin internsyon na makasakit ng damdamin ng ating kababihan,“ said the NBI official.
De Lemos emphasized that the NBI does not tolerate indecency within the agency and assured that appropriate actions would be taken against those responsible for the incident.
“Aalamin natin kung sino ang dapat managot sa pagkakamali na ito. Nais kong i-emphasize, we will never tolerate indecency in the agency, kung andoon ako malamang napahinto natin ‘yung sumayaw,“ he added.
The NBI aims to hold individuals accountable for their role in the mishap and is committed to upholding its commitment to professionalism and integrity.
Justice Secretary Crispin 'Boying' Remulla earlier said he will order an investigation into the viral video of a “sexy dancer” during the social nights of National Bureau of Investigation’s (NBI) Mid Year Command conference.
