The Philippine Navy on Monday announced that the first of six offshore patrol vessels (OPVs) acquired from South Korean shipbuilder HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), the BRP Rajah Sulayman, has arrived in the country.
The Navy announced that the vessel reached Philippine shores on Friday, January 17, and will undergo technical inspection and assessment before being commissioned into active service.
Once operational, the new ship is expected to enhance the Philippines’ "maritime defense and law enforcement capabilities," through a "modern, multi-domain, and self-reliant naval force."
BRP Rajah Sulayman was initially launched on June 11, 2025, at the HHI shipyard in Ulsan, South Korea.
