A Navy civilian staff and applicant of the Philippine Navy was found dead inside the construction site of the new Senate building in Taguig on Thursday, police confirmed on Friday.

Based on reports from the Southern Police District, the deceased is a 23-year-old male from Maguindanao del Sur.

Witness accounts cited that the victim entered the site through Gate 1 of the building at around 7 pm on Thursday.

After an extensive search that lasted several hours, he was not found until around 9 p.m. when he was discovered falling from the north tower of the building being constructed. Unfortunately, he passed away immediately.

The Philippine Navy identified the victim as a member of the civilian kitchen staff and confirmed that he was in the process of applying to join the Philippine Navy.

The Philippine Navy mentioned that it would conduct its investigation into the incident.

"We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased. The Philippine Navy is ready to assist all those affected by this tragic event and will fully cooperate with law enforcement agencies during the conduct of the investigation," Navy spokesperson Commander John Percie Alcos said in a statement on Friday.
