Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Acting Chairman Atty. Don Artes, along with Navotas Mayor John Rey Tiangco, Malabon Mayor Jeannie Sandoval, and officials from the Department of Public Works and Highways, Philippine Coast Guard, PNP Maritime, and Shipyard Association convened to discuss the North Navotas Navigational Gate rehabilitation.
The MMDA and officials agreed on protocols to manage the passage of ships and vessels in the river, aiming to avoid further damage to the navigational gate.
To ensure better monitoring of the navigational gate repairs, the MMDA will equip the area with floodlights and LED boards for improved visibility to ship owners and operators.
The MMDA is maintaining coordination with the DPWH and Shipyard Association members to ensure the swift repair of the navigational gate and mitigate potential flooding problems during future storms.
Mayors Sandoval and Tiangco expressed their gratitude to Atty. Don Artes and the MMDA for their assistance and prompt action in repairing the navigational gate.
The two officials noted that the repair efforts helped alleviate flooding in the cities of Malabon and Navotas during the recent storm.
