Caloocan City and Navotas City local government units reminded its residents regarding the prohibited use of firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices last December 26.
“Para po manatiling ligtas ang pagsalubong ng Bagong Taon, bawal po ang paggamit ng anumang paputok or fireworks alinsunod sa Executive Order No. TMT-060,” Navotas City government said.
Executive Order No. TMT-060 was signed by former Navotas Mayor Tobias Tiangco last 2020 banning firecrackers to avoid injuries and casualties during year-end celebrations.
Likewise, Caloocan Mayor Along Malapitan said that the use of firecrackers and fireworks is regulated under Executive Order No. 0332-22.
Under this executive order, authorities of cities and barangays are obliged to designate areas for fireworks display zones in Caloocan — which must be approved by the LGU.
Both orders were implemented to reduce fire, injuries, casualties, and the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
Residents are encouraged to use alternative noise-making devices like party horns, kitchenware, sound system, and other safer ways.
