The National Peace and Order Council (NPOC) described the current situation in the West Philippine Sea and the country's internal security as manageable.
According to Philippine National Police (PNP) Spokesperson PBGen. Jean Fajardo, this assessment was made by the National Security Council as well as the ground commanders during the latest NPOC meeting last Friday.
This comes ahead of the upcoming holiday season and the election period, which is set to begin on January 12.
During a press briefing at Camp Crame, Fajardo stated that the PNP has already submitted a list of possible election areas of concern, but these will be subject to validation by the council, together with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
"On the part of the NSC ay nag-present din siya ng, with respect naman doon sa situation sa West Philippine Sea, is na the situation remains manageable naman po," Fajardo said.
"And even 'yung ating internal security ang sinabi naman po ng ating mga Commanders ay it remains manageable at least up to the time na tayo po ay nagsasagawa po ng National Peace and Order Council," she added.
The security sector, including the police, military, and coast guard, carried out the mentioned actions just days after the PNP and AFP stated that there was no need to raise the alert level despite the ongoing political rift and noise.
