Every Filipino can unleash the heroes imbued within themselves, President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr. said on Monday, August 28, the commemoration of the National Heroes Day.
"All of us can be heroes, one way or another. We unleash the heroes in us when we act genuinely for the good of others, embed with causes and motives greater than personal interest or vain glory," he remarked in his speech during a ceremony held at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig City.

Marcos added that "heroism is not only found in the grand battles or struggles", but it is in the "simple acts of kindness and empathy."
The President then honored the heroic deeds of ordinary and migrant workers, and he asked everyone to narrate their tales.
"It may be the Filipino farmer who prevail over the harsh weather to ensure his successful harvest," he said.
"We can never disregard the countless tales of our workforce who have bounced back on the agonizing challenges of the pandemic, and drive our nation's economic recovery," Marcos added.
The President likewise urged Filipinos to never forget the "many heroes and heroines who dedicated their lives to all the liberties that everyone enjoys today including the many lesser-known and unnamed Filipinos who played important roles in shaping the country."
During the ceremony, Marcos led the flag raising as well as the laying of flowers.
Meanwhile, contrary to the yearly tradition, no other commemoration ceremony was held in historic sites such as Aguinaldo Shrine in Kawit, Cavite; Bonifacio Monument in Caloocan City; and in Rizal Park in Manila.
