The national government will support OFWs who are affected by the Kuwait work visa suspension, according to an official from the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).
Aside from other assistance, the affected OFWs will be part of the National Reintegration Program by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said DFA Assistant Secretary Paul Cortes.
In a media forum, Cortes said that this is to give them aid considering knowing what they had to go through and the things that they have to give up just to go to Kuwait.
Last Friday, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said that the Kuwaiti government has suspended the issuance of new entry visas for Filipinos.
Cortes explained that the visa suspension is for the new issuance, and for those who do not have a resident visa or what they call ‘iqama’, however if the OFW is returning to Kuwait and has been living and working there with an existing working visa then he or she is allowed to enter the country.
Meanwhile, The DFA also announced that a delegation team will be sent to Kuwait to discuss the suspension of visas.
