Napoleon 'Nap' Marilag, the founder and president of Dugong Alay, Dugtong Buhay Inc., passed away at the age of 61.
His passing was confirmed by DZRH anchor Mae Binauhan during her program, Operation Tulong on Thursday, February 23.
"Tayo ay nagpapaabot ng pakikiramay sa pamilya Marilag... matapos ang matapang na pakikipaglaban sa sakit na cancer, pumanaw na po ang founder at president ng Dugong Alay, Dugong Buhay na si Napoleon Marilag," she said.
Marilag spearheaded his advocacy for blood donation for 29 years through the Dugong Alay, Dugtong Buhay Inc., and has been partnering with DZRH's Operation Tulong for its medical missions.
Messages of condolences flooded Marilag's Facebook page from people who were helped by the institution he built.
He survived his wife and three daughters, along with his grandchildren.
