The Philippine National Police (PNP) is looking at the possibility that "disgruntled" employees were behind the molotov bomb explosion at the open parking lot of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 (NAIA-3).

In an interview with the media on Monday, PNP spokesperson PCol. Jean Fajardo said one individual or a group may be the perpetrator in the incident.

“Possibly, isa sa mga tinitignan nila may mga disgruntled na mga indibidwal na nagtatrabaho sa loob [ng NAIA],” she added.

The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) said it already identified the person of interest in the incident.

Interviewed by RH Sherwin Alfaro, MIAA assistant general manager (AGM) for security Manny Gonzales said they speculate that the previously launched crackdown against illegal porters, dispatchers, and colorum operators had prompted the suspect/s to bomb the NAIA-3 open parking lot.

"There was a series of crackdowns regarding illegal porter dito, illegal dispatcher atsaka yung mga colorum, and meron dito yung individual or group na kumukuha ng mga pasahero pinasasakay doon sa mga non-accredited public transport," he said.

"Ito po yung mga colorum, so marami po ditong naapektuhan sa crackdown na ito at yung iba pa dito is may mga iniimbestigahan po, so maari po itong isang dahilan," Gonzales added.

Last September 23, a molotov bomb or improvised flaming device exploded at the NAIA-3 open parking lot, damaging three vehicles.
