The Social Security System (SSS) has launched the MySSS Card, a new ID card that also works as a debit card, making it easier for Filipino workers, pensioners, and beneficiaries to access their social security benefits and manage everyday transactions.
The old UMID (Unified Multi-purpose Identification) still remains valid, however the new MySSS card can be used in their place with more features such as banking connections.
Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC) is the first bank to issue the card, with other banks like Asia United Bank, China Bank, and Union Bank expected to join soon. With the MySSS Card, members can access pensions, loans, and benefits quickly, and also use the card for shopping, paying public transport fares, and online purchases.
The card is equipped with an EMV chip, integrates with the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) eVerify, and uses biometric authentication to ensure security.
SSS President and CEO Robert Joseph Montes De Claro further claims that the MySSS Card provides a safe, fast, and convenient way for members to manage their finances and access benefits.
Applications opened on 1 October 2025 and can be completed online through the My SSS Portal.
To begin with, De Claro detailed that members may choose their partner bank (starting with RCBC) and give consent for data sharing between SSS, the National ID system, and the bank. After verifying their identity online, members can open a savings account through the bank’s app or branch.
Metro Manila residents will receive their cards within 15 working days, while those outside the capital region will get theirs within 20 working days.
The MySSS Card will automatically serve as the main account for SSS benefits and loans, removing the need for separate enrollment.
This initiative is part of a larger government effort led by Finance Secretary Ralph G. Recto to modernize SSS services and make it easier for members to receive benefits.
“The SSS and RCBC partnership marks a significant milestone in the digital transformation of government services,” De Claro said.
“The MySSS Card’s rollout will expand as more partner banks join the program. This will provide more options for card issuance and banking features,” he added.
