Filipina Hazel Ann Baguisa Morales is not yet facing charges as she is still under investigation over her alleged involvement in the death of a Japanese couple in Tokyo, according to Philippine Ambassador to Japan Mylene Albano on Wednesday, January 24.
Interviewed during DZRH Dos Por Dos, Albano said that the Philippine Consul General in Japan had the chance to visit and talk with Morales in detention.
“Hindi pa [kinasuhan]. As of now, investigation is still going. Sa detention pa siya as of ngayon. Ang alam namin, ang prosecutor nila is given a certain period of time to investigate and bring charges against her,” she said.

Morales is reportedly in good condition, and she is being assisted by a lawyer appointed by a Japanese court.
According to the Philippine Ambassador to Japan, the 30-year-old Filipina had asked the Philippine Consul General to convey a private message to her loved ones, and this would be forwarded by the foreign affairs department.
Meanwhile, Albano said they received a police report about Bryan Jefferson Lising dela Cruz, the second Filipino implicated in the case, but there is no further information yet.
Morales and dela Cruz are both being accused of abandoning the bodies of a Japanese couple. Tokyo police had said that dela Cruz allegedly conspired with Hazel to commit the crime.
