The Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) will continue to receive a water allocation of 50 cubic meters per second from May 1 until May 15.
However, Engr. Patrick Dizon, department manager of MWSS, said that the agency will need to implement pressure management strategies due to the extreme heat, and increased public consumption.
"Last month pa ito ginagawa. Asahan natin ang pagbaba ng water pressure sa ating areas na nasasakupan ng MWSS dito sa Metro Manila," Dizon said on Tuesday, April 30, during DZRH's Damdaming Bayan.
Dizon said that Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Sec. Maria Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga suggested the implementation of prescribed conversation actions.
The MWSS official urged the people in Metro Manila to conserve water since the water allocation of the agency will suffer if the elevation level in Angat Dam will continue to drop, and will cause water service interruptions.
Dizon mentioned that the water level in Angat Dam drops by an average of 40 centimeters per day.
"Hinihikayat natin yung lahat ng gumagamit ng tubig na tumulong sa pagtitipid ng paggamit ng tubig para hindi natin maabot yung nangyari noong 2019 kung saan pumipila yung ating mga taong-bayan para lang makakuha ng tubig," Dizon cautioned.
As of 8:00AM on Tuesday, the water level in Angat Dam droopped to 188.03 meters from 188.45 meters on Monday, April 29.
