The Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) hopes to continue receiving a water allocation of 52 cubic meters per second from the National Water Resources Board (NWRB).
Engr. Patrick Dizon, a division manager of the MWSS, warns that bringing down the water allocation to 48 cubic meters per second, which the agency originally receives, will cause more water service interruptions.
"Hopefully ma-approve itong allocation na ni-request natin sa kanila," Dizon told DZRH on Sunday, May 21.
Dizon stressed that the MWSS managed to avoid a water shortage in Metro Manila due to the decision of the NWRB to increase the water allocation to 52 cubic meters per second.
"Since nagkakaroon ng interruptions sa ibang lugar, kami ay humingi kaagad ng allocation ng 52 cms para matugunan yung mga water interruption sa ibang lugar," he said.
The MWSS official explained that the southern portion of Metro Manila, and Cavite experience water service interruptions due to the quality of water from Laguna Lake.
