Elon Musk has hinted at his plan for X users to pay monthly charges.
In an interview Monday with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Musk, the owner of X, said he is considering a "small monthly payment" to all X users as an effort to "combat vast armies of bots" proliferating on the website.
Not specifying the amount of the fee, Musk said X will come out with "lower-tier pricing" than the existing cost for current X premium subscribers.
"We want it to be a small amount of money," Musk said.
"This is a longer discussion, but in my view, this is actually the only defense against the vast armies of bots," he added.
Meanwhile, X already charges verified users an $8 monthly subscription, which covers the verified check as well as access to exclusive services like post-editing.
A verified X subscription to organizations costs $1,000 per month, plus $50 per month for each additional affiliate.
In July, Musk said the platform had lost roughly half its advertising revenue.
