The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) responded on Sunday, March 3, to a muriatic acid leak from a chemical tanker in Quirino Ave. corner of Pedro Gil, Manila.
According to RH 5 Val Gonzales' report on DZRH Stories: Pinoy Documentaries, 3,000 liters of hydrochloric acid, also known as muriatic acid, spilled over the said area after the tanker ran aground at past 3 AM.

A BFP senior fire inspector reportedly said that the truck possibly ran aground due to the "rough and patched road."
The fire bureau conducted a water flushing operation or used a water jet to flush the leaked muriatic acid into the drainage system.
The Quirino Ave. corner of Pedro Gil was temporarily closed amidst the flushing operation.
As per Gonzales, the truck driver said they came from Laguna and were supposed to head to Bulacan when the incident occurred.
No one was said affected since the leak was far from residential houses.
