Davao del Norte First District Representative Pantaleon Alvarez believes that the Philippine National Police (PNP) should temporarily halt the serving of an arrest warrant to fugitive and religious leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, as it causes disturbances to the people of Davao.
In an interview during Magandang Umaga Pilipinas on Monday, Alvarez was asked if the PNP’s eight-day effort to serve the arrest warrant was justified. Alvarez noted that the move was "not in order."
"Kaming mga taga roon ay naiistorbo rin dahil grabe yung traffic. Kung galing ka ng Manila pupunta ka ng Davao del Norte, dadaanan mo talaga 'yang traffic na 'yan. Abala talaga."
Alvarez added that the PNP should precisely know where to serve the arrest warrant, given the vast size of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ Compound.
"Para sa akin parang hindi nasaayos e, dahil ang warrant kasi dapat very specific, kung saan kanino iseserve," said Alvarez.
"Kahit naman sa Saligang Batas hindi pinag-uuspan yung gano kalawak yung property, basta sinasabi lang doon specifically describing the person and the items to be searched," he added.
The PNP is currently executing a search warrant for the religious leader, believing that he is hiding in the KOJC compound, which was discovered to have secret tunnels.
Quiboloy is currently facing charges in the country, including sex trafficking, human trafficking, and child abuse allegations involving his religious group.
