The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) on Monday, September 25 said it is set to review the complaints against the noontime show "E.A.T" over the "lubid" remarks made by E.A.T host and comedian Joey de Leon.
In a brief statement, MTRCB said it will review the reports on E.A.T's "Gimme 5" segment that was aired last Saturday, September 23.
"The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) shall determine if the same are valid and presumably violative of Presidential Decree No. 1986 and/or its Implementing Rules and Regulations," it said.
During the said segment, a male contestant was asked to give five objects that can be worn on a person's neck.
He was given 45 seconds to answer, but he only named one which was a necklace.
When the time was up, Joey said the male contestant should have mentioned "lubid" or "rope".
"Lubid! Lubid! Nakakalimutan n'yo, lubid," he said.
The video clip of the episode was uploaded and went viral on X (formerly Twitter).
This is a trigger warning clip about suicide and Joey De Leon can’t shut his mouth.

Some netizens were disturbed by the host's answer as they said that this was not a good joke.
"For everyone who lost someone by self-hanging, and as an advocate against suicide, I find this disturbing to be aired on public television. ̶M̶a̶g̶k̶a̶n̶o̶ Saan ka dadalhin 'spiritual conviction' mo. Your move, Lala Sotto," one netizen said in an X post.

"Having a brother who took his own life by asphyxia by strangulation, this clip brings back all the pain our family had to go through. How is this normal alarming for you @mtrcb_ph @MTRCBgov," another one said.

Public health and mental health advocate RJ Naguit called the attention of the MTRCB, saying that the segment "might be triggering for some viewers."
Hi @MTRCBgov! Reminding you of the media guidelines on suicide reporting that your office has released/signed up to. Hope you can do something about this show that might be triggering for some viewers. https://t.co/pRtnYco8HC
