By 2027, the public will be able to ride the Metro Rail Transit Line 7 (MRT-7) that will connect San Jose Del Monte in Bulacan to Metro Manila, assured Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon.
The announcement follows Dizon’s inspection of the rail line and depot at Quirino Highway, Quezon City, Batasan Station, and other facilities part of the MRT-7, which has been under construction for a decade now, reported RH 5 Val Gonzales.
Along with the 22-kilometer MRT-7 project, Dizon is also expediting the completion of the Common Station, intended to connect MRT-7, MRT-3, and Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1).
In April, San Miguel Corporation (SMC) entered into an agreement with Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) for the operation and maintenance of the MRT-7.
The line opening to the public is expected to shorten commuters’ two to three hour-long trips by at least 35 minutes. The Department of Transportation (DOTr) estimates that around 300,000 passengers will benefit from it.
