The management of Metro Rail Transit (MRT-3) Line 3 on Monday announced its plan to refile a petition for a fare increase in the next two weeks.
"In the next two weeks po ay mag re-refile ang MRT-3 and then there after, susundan po natin yung proseso until such time, mabigyan full approval," MRT-3 officer-in-charge (OIC) Oscar Bongon said in a press briefing of the Department of Transportation (DOTr).
Bongon said the MRT-3 management will petition for a hike of ₱2.29 in boarding fee and ₱0.21 per kilometer in distance fare.

The MRT-3's petition is similar to the fare adjustment of the Light Rail Transit’s (LRT) Lines 1 and 2 that were approved on Monday.
Bongon said the fare hike petition is important in improving the railway's services.
DOTr Assistant Secretary for Railway and officer-in-charge Jorjette Aquino assured that once the MRT-3's fare hike petition got approved, the national government will still subsidize 70 percent of the ₱115 end-to-end fare per passenger.
In February this year, the MRT-3 management filed a petition before the transportation department for ₱2 to ₱4 increase, but got rejected due to failure to comply with certain rules.
