The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) is offering free rides today, Nov. 6, to young passengers in celebration of National Children's Month.
The good news was announced by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) in a statement posted on its official Facebook page.
"Ang LIBRENG SAKAY ay tugon ng MRT-3 sa kahilingan ng National Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) para sa espesyal na okasyon, at bilang pagpupugay ng linya sa kabataang Pilipino," DOTr said.
Qualified for the free rides are those who are 18 and below or students from kinder, elementary, junior and senior high school.
Those who want to avail of the libreng sakay are required to present a valid school identification card (ID) to the security personnel in the station.
The free rides in the morning started at 7 AM and will end at 9 AM.
In the afternoon, the free rides will be from 5 PM to 7 PM.
"Nakikiisa po ang buong linya ng MRT-3 sa pagdiriwang ng National Children's Month ngayong buwan ng Nobyembre. Nawa po sa aming LIBRENG SAKAY ay maipadama namin sa ating mga kabataan ang aming paghanga at pagpapahalaga sa kanilang galing at husay, na siyang magiging pundasyon ng ating maunlad na bayan," DOTr Assistant Secretary for Railways and MRT-3 officer-in-charge Jorjette Aquino said.
