Abalos earlier urged generals and full colonels of the PNP to submit their courtesy resignation amid the possibility of their involvement in the illegal drug trade and as part of the agency's internal cleansing.
On Thursday, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Rodolfo Azurin Jr. himself submitted his courtesy resignation.
In an interview, Dizon confirmed that some high-ranking officers in MPD have already submitted their respective resignations.
"Ako pa lang ngayong umaga at may mga nagsumite na rin po na member ng MPD na third level officers [It's only me this morning and some third level officers in MPD have also submitted their courtesy resignations]," he said.
According to Dizon, Abalos' appeal is also a way of cleansing the PNP organization as well as maintaining the image that not all cops are involved in illegal drugs.
A committee will conduct an investigation on all these police officers, and the courtesy resignation of those with proven links to the illegal drug trade will be accepted, Abalos said in a media conference this week.
