<p>A mother, which is believed to be suffering from mental health illness, and her daughter perished in a fire after they were trapped inside their own house in Krus Na Ligas, Quezon City on Thursday.&nbsp;</p>
<p>An initial report from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said the victims, identified as a 40-year-old woman and her daughter, around 17-18 years old, were found dead on the second floor of their bedroom.&nbsp;</p>
<p>"Ang nangyari, mother and daughter ang namatay. Ang nagsunog &lsquo;yung mother and allegedly, pinigilan niya yung anak niya [lumabas] kaya namatay silang dalawa," Senior Fire Inspector 1 Rick Caranto said in an interview with another media outlet.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Caranto added that the mom, according to their neighbors, have been showing signs of depression prior to the incident.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the fire was raised to the first alarm at around 2:39 AM. It was declared under control at around 2:55 a.m. and was extinguished at around 2:58 AM.&nbsp;</p>

<p>BFP said the damage was pegged at P24,000.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Authorities are still investigating the cause of the incident.&nbsp;</p>
