The local government unit of Quezon City apprehended 3,200 individuals on Wednesday, May 12, during a one-time, big-time operation against violators of the health and safety protocols.

The Department of Public Order and Safety, Quezon City Police District, Task Force on Transport and Traffic Management, Task Force Disiplina, and Market Development and Administration Department conducted the joint operation in 142 barangays.

Authorities brought the violators to the Quezon Memorial Circle for proper documentation and lecture on ordinances pertaining to minimum health protocols in the city.

Violators also received an Ordinance Violation Receipts (OVR) with a corresponding fine of Php 300 for first offense, Php 500 for second offense, and Php 1,000 for subsequent offenses.

Elmo San Diego, head of the Quezon City Department of Public Order and Safety, said that the operation seeks to lessen the number of health protocol violators in the city.

"Ginawa na natin itong ‘One Time Big Time’ noong nakaraang buwan, at gagawin pa rin natin ngayon. Hindi tayo titigil hangga’t marami pa ring pasaway na hindi sumusunod sa ating local ordinances on health protocols," San Diego said.

The local government also provided face masks and face shields for the apprehended violators.
