The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has been receiving hundreds of repatriation requests from Filipinos in Israel amid the ongoing tension between Israel and the Hamas militants.
In an interview with another media outlet, DMW officer-in-charge Hans Leo Cacdac said their office is currently processing at least 120 requests, ensuring that the Filipinos requesting have already finished their contract with their respective employers.
Cacdac said the fourth batch of Filipino repatriates from the war-stricken country is expected to leave Israel on Thursday.
The DMW official also noted the government's efforts in ensuring that the Filipinos affected will have a job to return to in Israel once the situation normalizes.
So far, 60 Filipinos have already returned to the country.
The first batch of repatriates, who arrived in the country last October 18, consisted of 15 caregivers, one hotel worker, and a one-month-old infant. It was followed by the arrival of 14 more caregivers and four hotel employees from Israel on October 20.
The third batch of OFWs, composed of 25 caregivers and hotel workers, arrived in the Philippines on Monday afternoon.
The national government earlier placed Israel and Gaza City in Alert Levels 2 and 4, respectively.
