Broadcaster and columnist Ramon “Mon” Tulfo on Thursday claimed that former Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Jay Ruiz was removed from his post after approximately ₱50 million allegedly went missing from Ruiz's vault.
In a Facebook post, Tulfo said that according to his source, a “tweety bird” working inside the PCO, confirmed that the lost funds were the reason for Ruiz's purported dismissal.
"Lumabas na [n]atanggal si dating secretary Jay Ruiz ng Presidential Communications Office (PCO) dahil nawala ang ₱50 million sa kanyang vault," Tulfo said.
"Bakit may ganoong kalaking halaga sa isang opisina ng gobyerno, 'di masabi ng tweety bird," he added.
Tulfo further claimed that the "missing funds were never reported to the police," because, according to his source, the origin of the money could not be sufficiently explained.
The columnist further said speculation is swirling that the ₱50 million was intended to pay influencers and vloggers who support the administration of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., whom he tagged as a “defender” of the BBM government.
Despite the large amount allegedly involved, Tulfo said he does not know who exactly took the money.
“Hindi matukoy kung sino ang nagnakaw ng malaking halaga,” he noted.
The veteran broadcast journalist Ruiz served as PCO Secretary from February 24, 2025, to July 10, 2025.
After five months in office, Ruiz was succeeded by former journalist Dave Gomez.
Meanwhile, Ruiz is now part of the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) board of directors in Taiwan.
