Calling all Moana fans, Auli’i Cravalho will not be reprising her role in the live-action remake of the Disney animated film.
Last Saturday, the Hawaiian actress Auli’i Cravalho made the announcement on her Instagram.
Cravalho said “When I was cast as Moana at 14, it wonderfully changed my life and started my career. In this live-action retelling, I will not be reprising my role.”
She then said that it is vital that the casting of the characters and the stories that need to be told must be accurate.
Cravalho will be an executive producer of the live-action film and will be helping in finding Moana with a courageous spirit, undeniable wit and emotional strength.
“I am truly honored to pass this baton to the next young woman of the Pacific Island descent to honor our incredible Pacific peoples, cultures and communities that help inspire her story,” said Cravalho ending her Instagram video.
