A construction company is about to receive a notice of violation from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) for obstructing vehicular traffic at the construction site.
MMDA acting chairman Don Artes said the agency will not put up with any sort of resistance.
He added that all are subject to the traffic laws prohibiting encroachments and impediments on the road.
A private contractor, who was doing road construction along EDSA, was recently fined by the MMDA for obstruction.
Artes emphasized that it is not new for the department to impose fines and penalties on private contractors, adding they have been doing this for quite some time.
He further explained that they have given a lot of notices of violations to businesses and contractors who are impeding the road and causing traffic to congeal.
The MMDA acting chairman also reminded builders to keep the work areas clean at all times.
Heavy machinery and vehicles must not obstruct traffic in order to avoid punishment.
