The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will begin imposing higher fines this November 13 for motor vehicles caught using the EDSA bus lane.
“I-impose na po natin yung higher penalty sa pagpasok sa bus lane so inaabisuhan ko po ang ating mga kababayan na wag na po tayong gumamit kung hindi tayo awtorisado sa bus lane,” MMDA Chair Don Artes told reporters on Monday, Nov. 6.
1st Offense – P5,000

3rd Offense – P20,000, one year driver’s license, suspension, and road safety seminar
4th Offense – P30,000, revocation of driver’s license recommendation to LTO

According to MMDA, the penalty are as follows:

1st Offense – P5,000

2nd Offense – P10,000, 1 month driver’s license, suspension, and road safety seminar

3rd Offense – P20,000, one year driver’s license, suspension, and road safety seminar

4th Offense – P30,000, revocation of driver’s license recommendation to Land Transportation Office (LTO)
MMDA earlier announced that the higher fines came after the Metro Manila Council (MMC) approved the MMDA Regulation No. 23-002.
The memorandum stated that unauthorized motor vehicles continually disregarded the policy regarding exclusive bus carousel lanes despite constant warnings.
