MMDA to file raps vs. 3 persons selling fake MMFF complimentary tickets
by Ada Pelonia21 December 2023

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Wednesday, Dec. 20, filed charges against three individuals who were caught illegally selling complimentary Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) tickets.

According to the agency, the apprehended individuals sold 46 tickets through the social networking platform Facebook with the price ranging from P1,300 to P1,500 each. The film festival’s secretariat confirmed that the tickets sold were fake.

“As the MMDA Chairman and concurrent overall MMFF Chairman, I strongly condemn the acts of these enterprising individuals who are using the Metro Manila Film Festival as a business venture by selling fake complimentary tickets,” MMDA chief Romando Artes said.

Artes added that the passes were not for sale and no persons or groups would be authorized to distribute them for any profiteering purposes.

The three individuals would be charged with Estafa through Falsification of Public Documents in relation to R.A 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.

“With this unfortunate incident, I urge the public not to patronize MMFF tickets sold online and instead report to us these unlawful activities,” he said.

The 49th MMFF is set to premiere in Philippine theaters nationwide from December 25 to January 7.
