MMDA sacks personnel for alleged ties with 'colorum' syndicates
by Christhel Cuazon12 March 2024

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has relived some of its personnel from their respective posts for allegedly providing protection to colorum syndicates.

"Recently, we discovered na nagta-try na mag-infiltrate dito sa MMDA iyong mga sindikato ng colorum. Agad naman nating na-identify yan," MMDA chariman Romado Artes said in a press conference on Monday, March 11.

He said the personnel involved have already been relived and there has been an ongoing investigation.

"Yung mga tauhan namin na may possible involvement ay na-relieved na particularly yung mga nasa anti-colorum unit namin at intelligence investigation office," he added.

Artes maintained that their agency is not offering any protection to colorum syndicates

The MMDA is already coordinating with the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) for the criminal complaints that will be filed against the involved personnel, he noted.

Earlier this month, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) said that they have apprehended over 7,000 motor vehicles in February amid the colorum and unregistered vehicle crackdown.
